We want you to enjoy your purchase and to be fully aware of all the facts before placing an order.
If you change your mind or have a problem, we will always do our best to help you in a fair and reasonable way.
All our jewellery is currently made to order. When you place a reservation, you pay a fee which is usually 50% of the total final cost of the item.
After your reservation has been placed, you have 48 hours to cancel your order and receive a full refund.
After this 48 hour window has passed, the reservation fee is nonrefundable. If your reservation contains gemstones and you cancel it before we set them, then we may be able to give you a partial refund.

Will I receive the jewellery in the image?
All our images are for illustration purposes only and we cannot guarantee that your order will look exactly like the image. The settings on your monitor may affect the representation of colours. Every gemstone is unique in cut, colour and proportion; as such will always differ slightly from order to order.
All our precious metal jewellery is carefully finished by hand giving each piece a unique character. When you receive your order the colours, lighting and movement in your environment will affect your perception of it's look and feel. This is entirely normal and is to be expected.
Where is your shop?
Our shop is online, offering you the convenience to buy in a location that suits you.
Where is your workshop and can I visit?
You are welcome to visit us in Hatton Garden.
Every task is completed by a highly qualified craftsperson, and if you would like to discuss a particular aspect of your design with that craftsperson, we are happy to arrange it.
Diamond setters, engravers and polishers all use different, specialist tools and as such work at different benches.
I would prefer you to come to me; is that possible?
Yes, we can. We often travel to our customers and can become your personal jeweller.

Private consultations are our specialty, either in your office, in our workshop or over drinks in a relaxed setting, we take the time to get to know exactly what you want.
At the moment, this is mostly limited to locations in central London.
Any deposits taken on bespoke orders or any reservations taken on our current collection items during a face to face consultation are normally nonrefundable and are not subject distance selling regulations.

What if I change my mind and cancel my order before dispatch? Will you refund my reservation fee?
When you reserve an item online, you pay a fee which is 50% or less than the total value of the sale.
We understand that you may change your mind, so we give you a 48 hour window after placing your online reservation to cancel your reservation and receive a full refund.
If we receive more than one reservation cancellation from the same customer in quick succession, we will not normally allow that customer to place a subsequent reservation. In this instance we do not have to offer an explanation for refusal of sale.
You are opted-in automatically to this 'cooling off' period, and may choose to waive it at your own discretion. If you waive your right to the cooling off period, your reservation will not normally be refundable, or may be partially refundable if we have not notified you of Stage 3 manufacturing.
After the 48 hour window has passed, the reservation fee will not normally be refundable, although we may issue you a partial refund if we have not notified you of Stage 3 manufacturing.
Reservation fees of 50% of the total cost of the item apply to all
Precious metal jewellery not containing gemstones.
Precious metal jewellery containing pave gemstones as the only type of gemstone. Pave gemstones are any gemstones which measure 3 millimetres or less across their longest measurement.
Reservation fees of 50% of the total cost of the item apply to some
Precious metal jewellery containing GIA certified and non certified gemstones, including but not limited to, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, South-Sea pearls, opals, tourmalines, peridot, and tanzanites.
Reservation fees of 25% of the total cost of the item apply to some
Precious metal jewellery containing GIA certified and non certified gemstones, including but limited to, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, South-Sea pearls, opals, tourmalines, peridot and tanzanites.
If you cancel any jewellery order containing gemstones before we send you the Stage 3 manufacturing confirmation, you may be due a partial reservation refund, please contact us to find out what you are due. You will be refunded via the same method you used to pay for your reservation. Please allow 30 days for us to process this refund.
What if I change my mind after I receive my order - can I return it?
Although reservation fees are not normally refundable, you do have the right to a full refund on the final payment if you notify us within 14 days of relieving your order. For example, if you buy an £800 ring, you will be due a full refund less the nonrefundable reservation fee of £400.
The item(s) must be reusable and in resalable condition, in the original undamaged packing, with all labels and tags intact.
Can I return pierced earrings?
We regret that we cannot accept returns of pierced earrings due to hygiene reasons.
However, you may choose to book a face to face consultation with us during which we may offer a way to transform the earrings into a new jewellery design. In such a situation, a deposit will be required to cover the additional design and manufacturing costs and this fee is nonrefundable.
What if I think my order has arrived damaged or faulty?
We keep quality control images of every item dispatched by our workshop to ensure everything is dispatched in a sales-worthy condition.
If you report that an item seems faulty or damaged upon arrival, please return the item to us so that we can investigate.
Any item returned to us which shows evidence of wear or damage caused by the recipient will not be accepted.
Any item which has been materially altered in anyway by another individual is nonreturnable.
When returning any item containing a GIA certified stone, we must be able to confirm the identity of the gemstone before issuing a refund.
When returning any item containing precious metal we must be able to confirm the assay grade of the metal before issuing a refund.
How long to do refunds take?
Refunds take up to 10 working days to process and will be refunded to you via your original method of payment.
What is assay-grade metal?
All items being sold as gold, silver, platinum or palladium in the UK must be hallmarked to confirm that they meet the legal standard.
Assaying is a process used to determine whether the precious metal content of the alloy meets the required standard.
All Victoria Barker Fine Jewellery is tested for purity and hallmarked at the London Assay Office of the Goldsmiths' Company.
What is GIA certification?
The Gemological Institute of America, or GIA, is a nonprofit institute dedicated to research and education in the field of gemmology and the jewellery arts. Founded in 1931, GIA's mission is to protect all buyers and sellers of gemstones by setting and maintaining the standards used to evaluate gemstone quality.
Gemstones evaluated by the GIA possess their own unique GIA Certificate. The GIA are widely regarded as the foremost diamond-grading lab worldwide.
When are items nonreturnable?
Bespoke, customised or personalised items are nonrefundable when bought online or face to face. Items damaged by customer carelessness are nonreturnable.
What qualifies as a customised or personalised order?
Customisation and/or personalisation includes, but is not limited to engraving, custom finishes and special order gemstones.
For example, you see a ring you really like on our website, which is available to order in highly polished 18 carat gold and set with a 0.50 carat diamond as standard.
You contact us and ask if we can apply a textured finish to the gold, swap the diamond for a sapphire, set some additional pave diamonds in the shoulders and engrave a special message on the inside of the band.
If we agree that we can make these alterations, we will notify you of the reservation fee. Once this fee has been paid, you will not be due a refund of the reservation fee if you change your mind. The final payment is also nonrefundable when made either online or face-to-face.
What if I make an online reservation but make the final payment during a face to face consultation, then change my mind at a later date? am I due a refund?
If you have arranged and participated in a face-to-face consultation, The Distance Selling Act no longer applies to any payments made during or after this consultation. In this situation your order will not normally be returnable.
If you make an online reservation and then book a face to face consultation to evaluate your order and you make the final payment during or after this face to face consultation then this payment is non refundable. The item will therefore be nonreturnable.
Every situation is judged on it's own merits. If you are unhappy with your order for any reason we will always try to find an appropriate solution.
Help, I ordered an item as a gift and got it completely wrong, what can you do?
Although reservation fees are mostly nonrefundable we never want you to be stuck with an item of jewellery which just doesn't work for the intended recipient. Get in touch with us and we will see what we can do.
Exchanges
What if I got the size wrong?
If the size is wrong for the wearer and we agree that we can resize it we will do this free of charge.
If the size is wrong and we cannot resize it then you you may exchange one size for another size of the same design free of charge as long as there is no price difference between sizes. If you are exchanging for a more expensive size you will need to pay the balance. (This does not apply to pierced earrings which are always nonreturnable).
It is important to note that fingers are not always the same size as heat, pressure and other environmental or biological factors can cause extremities to swell or shrink.
To be eligible for an exchange you must contact us within 14 days of receiving your item notifying us of your intention to exchange. You then have a further 30 days to return the item for an exchange. Exchanges following this period are unaccepted.
I bought a ring but I would like to exchange it for a necklace? Is this possible?
Yes you may exchange one item for another, however terms and conditions apply. As the reservation fee is nonrefundable only the remainder of what you paid is transferable.
If the remainder is greater than the reservation price of the new item then the difference will be considered part of the final payment and this final payment is refundable.
If the remainder is less than the reservation price of the new item then the balance will need to be paid. This additional payment is part of the new reservation fee and is not normally refundable.
What if I change my mind during the cooling off period and want to exchange for a new item?
During the cooling off period you may change your mind on an order. You may either cancel it entirely or exchange your reservation for a new reservation. If the new reservation is more expensive you will be required to pay the balance. If it is less expensive we will refund you the balance.
One exchange per customer during the cooling off period is permitted. Once the reservation has been exchanged for a new reservation, a new 48 hour cooling off period begins during which you may request a full refund. You may also waive your right to this cooling off period.
What if I change my mind after the cooling off period and want to exchange for a new item?
After the cooling off period has ceased the reservation fee is normally non-refundable or may be partially refundable if we have not notified you of Stage 3 manufacturing.
What happens to my order if I don't make my final payment?
If you do not make a final payment we will not be able to send you the jewellery. We will keep the jewellery for up to 3 months after which you will order will be cancelled and the item will no longer be available.
How are multiple orders handled?
We reserve the right to ask for proof of identity when making multiple orders and may decline a reservation and refund you in full without any explanation.
Can I buy more than one size?
If you would like to check your size in a certain style (usually a ring) we can arrange 3D printed versions in a variety of sizes to be sent to you to try on before making your decision. We are the only jewellery company in the UK offering this convenient service as standard.
What is 3D printing?
3D printing is an amazing tool which lets us create a 3-dimensional object in a resin-like material.
When we design our jewellery we create digital copies of our designs so we can evaluate the aesthetics before making them in precious metal.
3D printed jewellery is made in a quasi-resin material. It is by no means smooth and shiny like jewellery made of precious metals - in fact, it is usually somewhat rough and dull. However, it is a very useful tool for our customers to check the fit of a design before making a reservation.
We also use 3D printing as standard practise for bespoke orders. Our bespoke designs are 3D printed for your evaluation before we move on to crafting them in precious metal and gemstones.
Are your terms and conditions fair?
Great care has been taken when writing our terms and conditions to make them fair and transparent.
As most of our online jewellery collections are made to order certain costs cannot be recovered if you cancel your order. That is why we have created a reservation system that gives you a 48 hour window to completely cancel your online reservation and receive a full refund.
After the 48 hour window has ceased we allow for partial reservation refunds under certain conditions. The final payment is normally fully refundable if you notify us of your intention to return the item within 14 days after receiving it. You then have 30 days within which to return it. Any returns must arrive in their original undamaged condition and packaging.
Bespoke, customised or personalised orders are not subject to the same terms and conditions as they are normally non-returnable.
If you’re unsure about whether a term is fair, you should seek legal advice. To find out more go to www.gov.uk/cma/fair-contract-terms.
By placing a reservation you acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions.
From time to time we update our terms and conditions, always check for changes before placing a new order.
